Résumé

Focal Cortical Dysplasias (FCDs) are a common cause of pharmaco-resistant epilepsy. FCDs are rare conditions, and their pathogenesis remains poorly understood. We report a 12-year-old patient seen in our clinic for focal onset epileptic seizures. Neurological examination and brain CT-scan were nearly normal. However, an electroencephalogram (EEG) revealed a slightly slow background rhythm with slow spikes in the medial and right parietal regions and a brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a focal cortical thickening in the right parietal lobe with FLAIR hypersignal, indicating a focal cortical dysplasia. Ongoing seizures marked the disease course under antiepileptic polytherapy after 15 months of treatment.
