Introduction: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that mainly affects the joints with significant psychosocial repercussions. The objective of our study was to study the psychosocial impact of rheumatoid arthritis in the rheumatology department of the National Hospital of Niamey (HNN). Methods: This was a cross-sectional study with descriptive and analytical aims from January 1, 2024 to August 1, 2024 at the rheumatology department of the National Hospital of Niamey. Patients meeting the ACR/EULAR 2010 criteria seen in the rheumatology department of the National Hospital of Niamey were included. Results: The in-hospital frequency of rheumatoid arthritis was 9.3%. The mean age of patients was 47.2±13.49. The female sex was the most affected, 79% with a sex ratio of 0.32. More than three-quarters were married, i.e. 80%. 76.5% of patients resided in urban areas; Rheumatoid arthritis activity was moderate in 58% of cases and 92.46% of patients were dependent on fami-ly support. Depression according to the HAMILTON scale was minor in 28.5% of patients and major in 5.5%. According to the HAMILTON scale, 33.5% of patients had mild anxiety and 5.5% had moderate anxiety. The risk of developing depression is 5.45 times higher in patients with a high SAR28 compared to a low SAR28. Patients with a high SAR28 had a 3.14 times greater risk of anxiety occurring. Conclusion: The study of certain aspects of the quality of life of patients with rheumatoid ar-thritis has highlighted a psychological impact reflected in the rates of anxiety and depression; which can be explained by a lack of knowledge of the disease, financial problems and tradition-al practices and requiring multidisciplinary care.
